Ironbark series
Abstract paintings inspired by Australian ironbark trees, created with poured watercolour, ink and collage.
Inspired by the ironbark tree outside my studio, this series explores the movement, texture and seasonal changes found in one of Australia's most distinctive native trees. Leaves shifting in the wind, clusters of nectar-rich blossoms and the changing patterns of the canopy all inform the work.
Created with poured watercolour, ink and collage, each painting develops through layers of colour, mark-making and chance, mirroring the natural processes that shape the landscape.
My connection to native plants extends beyond the studio through hands-on work in propagation, regeneration and conservation. This experience continues to influence my practice, bringing together a love of the Australian bush and a desire to celebrate its beauty through contemporary abstract painting.
