Ironbark series
The Ironbark Series began with the tree outside my studio window — a constant presence, shifting with light, season and weather. These works explore strength and fragility, movement and pattern. The drooping branches form a structural anchor within each composition. Working with poured watercolour, ink and collage, I let gravity and chance echo the movement of wind through branches. Pigment pools, bleeds and fractures, creating layered textures that mirror bark, canopy and bush floor. Blossoms, leaves and drifting seed forms dance across the surface, referencing the intricate relationships between native trees, birds and pollinators.
This series reflects not only observation, but lived connection. My ongoing work in propagation and bush regeneration informs each painting — a dialogue between studio practice and ecological care.
