Paper Sculpture and Kinetic Works
Hand-crafted paper sculptures and suspended kinetic works inspired by Australian native plants.
My paper sculptures and kinetic works take the ideas explored in my paintings and bring them into three dimensions. Inspired by leaves, seed pods, grasses, tree canopies and the understory of native bushland, these works investigate shape, movement and pattern in space.
Each piece is created from thick watercolour paper that is painted, sealed and carefully shaped by hand. Suspended works move gently with the air, echoing the shifting leaves and grasses of the bush. Light and shadow become part of the work, creating changing patterns throughout the day.
Paper is central to my practice. Made from plant fibre, it provides a natural connection to the forms that inspire the work. These sculptures reflect my ongoing interest in native plants, regeneration and the beauty and resilience of Australian ecosystems.
