Paper Sculpture and Kinetic Works

Hand-crafted paper sculptures and suspended kinetic works inspired by Australian native plants.

My paper sculptures and kinetic works extend my two-dimensional practice into space. They are inspired by tree canopies, plant forms, leaves, seed pods, grasses and the understory of native bushland.

Works are created using thick, textured watercolour paper, painted, sealed and shaped. Suspended or lightly structured, kinetic works respond to air currents, introducing subtle movement that echoes the rustle of leaves and the quiet animation of the bush. Light passes through and between forms, casting shadows that become part of the work itself.

Using paper — a fragile yet enduring material derived from plant fibre — reinforces the conceptual thread that runs through all my practice: a deep respect for native ecologies and an ongoing commitment to regeneration and rewilding.
